Development of integrated CIM modeling including numerical analysis model

Enabling unified model data management for efficient information-oriented construction -

Fujita Corporation, a Daiwa House Group company (Headquarter: Shibuya-ku Tokyo, President: Yoji Okumura) has developed a program for automatically converting a 3-D numerical model (for Finite Element Analysis) into CIM (Construction Information Modelling) model. The program enables data obtained from a numerical analysis model to be used in CIM model. For example, actual measurement data can be compared with prior prediction results during the design stage and control standard values by using a CIM model. This enables visual identification of dangerous areas and impacts on surrounding areas , which can be used to improve safety management of construction sites. The newly developed program was trialled in our Taoi Tunnel Project (commissioned by the Touhoku Regional Development Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in Japan).

The developed program automatically creates identification numbers necessary for the CIM model from the information obtained from the numerical analysis model. In addition to the "Stress-displacement analysis" implemented in this trial case, various numerical analysis models such as the "Temperature Stress Analysis" model for concrete structures can be easily converted to a CIM model, drastically reducing the modeling time.
