(Headquarter: Shinjuku Tokyo, President: Atsushi Kanakubo, refered to as "Daiwa Odakyu" hereafter), Fujita Corporation (Headquarter: Shibuya Tokyo, President: Yoji Okumura, refered to as "Fujita" hereafter), and Daiwa Lease Co., Ltd. (Headquarter: Osaka City, President: Shunsaku Morita, refered to as "Daiwa Lease" hereafter) will purchase 10 robotic suits HAL® For Labor Support (Lumber)*1, developed and manufactured by CYBERDYNE Inc. (Headquarter: Tsukuba Ibaraki, CEO: Yoshiyuki Sankai, refered to as "CYBERDYNE" hereafter) and begin testing them at actual construction sites to assess their performance in reducing workloads.

An aging population is resulting in labor shortages within the construction industry (particularly with respect to construction site workers). Daiwa House Group has been investigating ways to decrease heavy workloads on-site and make the work environment better suited for skilled but elderly workers. As part of the move towards an improved work environment and assisting the labor force, the decision has been made to implement the robotic suits HAL® For Labor Support (for Lumbar) at construction sites*2 and factories which decreases the weight on the lower back and reduces the risk of injury. This product is lightweight (ca. 3kg) and can therefore be worn the whole working day.
