A Technology Prize in 2011 is awarded to FUJITA's Dam construction projects

At the annual meeting of the Japan Society of Dam Engineers held on May 17 in 2012, an award ceremony for 2011 year was performed. A joint venture including Fujita Corporation won a Technology Prize for the construction of the Toimeyamagawa Dam and the Kasegawa Dam (aggregate production project by a joint venture with Nishimatsu Corporation, Okumura Corporation and Fujita Corporation).

The Technology Prize is awarded to individuals or organizations who implement breakthrough works which remarkably contribute to dam construction technologies in the field of planning, design, execution and maintenance of dams.

For the Tomeyamagawa Dam Project, Yamagata Prefecture, a joint venture (Fujita Corporation, Takenaka Civil Engineering & Construction Corporation and, Shibuya Construction Corporation) and CTI Engineering Corporation were jointly awarded.

The Tomeyamagawa Dam is a gravity typed dam (with a height of 46m, crest length of 115m, dam volume of 57,000 m3 completed in July in 2011) for a reservoir to control flooding, stable water intake and conservation of river environment. In the process of selection, following creativities and originalities were highly evaluated ; construction technologies (various measures to unconsolidated layers thickly existing at the dam site in design and construction stages, adoption of pre-cast concrete form for inspection gallery), rationalization of construction process (adopting information-oriented construction methods), environmental protection (effective utilization of produced wastes) and cost reduction.

Fujita Corporation continues to contribute to creation of affluent society through making efforts to improve construction and environmental technologies.
