Participation in the maintenance and improvement of agricultural land in Sera-cho, Hiroshima

On Sunday April 26th, we participated in the cleaning of the Akaya River which runs through the center of Akaya district in Sera-cho, Hiroshima. There were 52 of us, together with the members of local Akaya Community Group. This is a part of a nationwide Farmland, Water, and Environmental Maintenance Grant Program supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan since 2007. Fujita Corporation has been involved with this program as a part of our regional contribution activities. This year, 12 of our employees including those newly-hired, joined the cleaning activity.

This area holds a special place in Fujita as between 1981 and 2007 we were involved in numerous construction projects as part of the reclamation construction project for the mid Hiroshima Plateau by Chugoku-Shikoku Regional Agricultural Administration Office, and we plan to continue offering regional contribution.

Our activities received an award from Chugoku-Shikoku Agricultural Administration Chief of the Bureau in March of 2015, which gives us much encouragement for our future involvement.
